William (0Research) Savage (Oral History)

William Savage was born c. 1715, reportedly in Virginia. William is believed to be a descendant of Thomas the Carpenter b. c. 1607 in England. Thomas the Carpenter is noted as the progenitor of the Savages of Virginia, arriving in the colony c. 1625 aboard the barque Ambrose. http://www.esva.net/ghotes/

In about 1741 in North Carolina, William married Elizabeth Savage b. c. 1720. William's age and marriage date is set by the 7/26/1763 Orange Co NC land grant in which son Zebulon received land from William.

Proof of William's death before 11/8/1784 in Guilford Co NC is found in a land transaction where Elizabeth is listed as "Widow Savage." Elizabeth is last recorded in a 1788 land transaction.
